SCOPPIO DEL CARRO
If you are in Florence in Easter day you can watch the “scoppio del carro” (explosion of the cart) and ancient event related to the First Crusade. The cart, laden with fireworks, explodes, a dove- rocket ignites pyrotechnic devices of many kinds.

Calcio in costume
Foot ball games played by the teams of the different Florentine Quarters. Actually it is a mix with rugby, football and wrestling too. In any case it is great! You can be present at a match in spring – summer. Ask the Tourist Info to get tickets.

Rificolona
The “Rificolona” day is in September the 7th or in the closer Saturday. Rificolone are paper lanterns, the tradition dates back to the old exhibitions of the renaissance, Today children go out in the night, usually along the river, with their lanterns (the best are made by themselves with colored tissue paper) hanging on a stick and lighted inside by a candle, while elder boys try to fire them hitting them with a peashooter using plaster bullets.
